Elder Dr. Doretha Cooper's
life is a testament to resilience, faith, and unwavering dedication. Raised in Compton, California, under the guidance of her mother, Emeritus Rebecca Roberts, she embodies the strong leadership values instilled in her from a young age. Her academic journey—marked by excellence in both elementary and high school—reflects her lifelong commitment to both spiritual and practical knowledge, culminating in advanced studies in religion and business.
Answering the call to ministry in 1993, Dr. Cooper began a lifelong journey of service to her community and the church. By 1995, she was appointed National Youth Evangelist, mentoring youth and young adults from infancy through age 35. A year later, the Western Diocesan entrusted her with leadership as Regional Minister of Music, a role she held faithfully alongside her evangelistic ministry until 2010. From 1999 to 2014, she served at Omni Ministries in Compton, California, alongside her mother, anchoring her experience in church leadership and further shaping her passion for ministry growth.
In June 2014, Dr. Cooper was appointed Lead Pastor of Omni Ministries, where she continues to faithfully shepherd a growing congregation. In every season of her ministry, her focus has been on empowering individuals with a Kingdom mindset and equipping them to walk boldly in their God-given inheritance.
Dr. Cooper’s entrepreneurial spirit has always been a defining aspect of her journey. Her skills once led her to successfully establish and operate a funeral home, and she continues to impact the marketplace as a Business Finance Consultant, guided by her personal motto: “Integrity Breeds Prosperity.” She is also the founder of Doretha Cooper Ministries (DCM) and the author of two impactful books:
• What You Don’t Know Will Hurt You – an informative guide to preparation and legacy planning.
• Breaking Free: Trusting God in the Midst of Grief – a heartfelt work that brings comfort and encouragement in seasons of loss.
Her academic achievements reflect her deep commitment to both scholarship and ministry. In 2015, Dr. Cooper earned her Doctorate of Ministry, and in 2023, she received her Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religious Studies, further solidifying her dedication to excellence in biblical study, leadership, and equipping the Body of Christ.
Her multifaceted gifts in music, ministry, and entrepreneurship continue to make her a beacon of inspiration to many. All things Dr. Cooper—including her books, teachings, and ministry resources—can be found on her official website and social media platforms:
